Ok, now this might freak you out a little bit.
Here's the interesting thing that I've noticed. And, if you pay attention you might notice it too. The right thing, the thing that you know, deep down is right, what it feels like in your body is intense fear. Yep, that's right. And, because your monkey mind still thinks you're a caveman, it's telling you to run like hell.
See, remember that embrace the discomfort thing I was talking about in my blog for families, here's where it all connects. When you are feeling the most intense fear of your life, what you are feeling is the universe's signal to you to keep going, move forward. The gold at the end of the rainbow is just ahead.
Most of us most of the time do a poor job of interpreting this feeling and freak out, give up, retreat, run away, and hide. Haven't you done that? I have.
But, the more I've gotten connected to that feeling of discomfort - the butterflies in the tummy, the tightness around the chest - the more I've been able to get closer and closer to my dreams. Those butterflies are actually the fire in your belly. And, your so unaccustomed to feeling it, that you think it's a signal to flee. The tightness in your chest - your heart expanding.
The good news is, you aren't a caveman anymore and you don't have to react instinctively. Instead, you can embrace the feelings, let them move through and inspire you to keep on going. Re-train your instinct.
One of our Family Wealth Planning Institute members who is also a subscriber to the Platinum Client Engagement System, is definitely retraining his instinct. He's facing a severe, severe financial crisis as a result of some business decisions he made, but he's not backing down in the face of the fear. Though I can tell you that some part of him is yelling retreat, retreat!
