My email today to my Daily Practice Tips subscribers was full of spiritual concepts that are easy to talk about, but can be difficult to apply in real life.
Have faith. Let go.
Um, okay, but I'm running a business here for pete's sake! I'm fairly certain the IRS is not going to accept faith instead of payroll taxes. And, my employees, probably not going to show up for work without paychecks.
But, the truth of the matter is that it's these spiritual concepts that have allowed me to rake in over a million dollars in revenue this year.
Four years ago, before I started my business, I used to think I was responsible for everything that happened in my life. That there was no one supporting me, but me. And, that I could control all the outcomes if I just worried about them enough.
Boy, what a relief it was to find out that wasn't true!
My faith in something bigger than me has allowed me to take risks I never would have otherwise. And, those risks have led to amazing things in my life.
For example, starting my business was one of those decisions. I had no resources, no spouse supporting me (he was the one home with our kids), I'd just given birth to our second child and I made the decision to quit my high paying job and start my own business.
What was I thinking?
The truth is that once I made the decision and then let go of the outcome, every single resource I needed showed up. I just kept myself open to what that might be. And, again and again I found myself saying - show me the way, show me the way.
When I kept myself open, I found the perfect office, the perfect clients showed up, the right amount of money at just the right time - and often from unexpected places.
Does that mean everything went as smooth as can be? Hell no! Remember I had a 50% engagement rate when I started out. Was I frustrated? Hell yes! Did I learn from the experience each and every time I experienced that rejection? Oh yes, I did.
In fact, I learned so well, I created a system that almost guarantees people will work with me after meeting with me for only 45 minutes.
But, I took in each experience, not as a sign of what I was doing wrong, but as I sign of what I could do better. If a client walked out of the office without saying yes, I didn't take that to mean I should give up the practice of law; I took it to mean I could do it better next time.
See, I also learned that no decisions are final. Every single thing I decided could be changed based on the feedback I got from my decision. And, it's been this flexibility that has allowed me to grow so quickly in such a short time.

Alexis, I am completely "blown away" by your approach to life that has totally transformed your business. I have always been seeking & searching and have touched on many of the concepts\experiences that you describe (from the Forum (formerly EST) -- the idea that you get what you resist) - but you have really mastered these concepts and integrated it into your life in an astonishing way.
You absolutely inspire me!
I too am a single parent of 2 adorable little girls (5 & 8)....so I can relate to you on many levels.
Eternally grateful,
