This past week had to be one of the most incredibly overwhelming weeks I've had yet.
To begin with, it was one of my "kid" weeks. My ex-husband and I share custody and Kaia and Noah spend a week with me and then a week with him.
I always know that my "kid" weeks are going to be hectic because I'm responsible not only for myself and the businesses, but also for the two most precious human beings alive.
That means getting them ready for school, packing snacks and lunches, making sure they are where they are supposed to be after school, dinners, books, baths, bed, well, you know the routine.
Add to that two full days of client meetings, a 1/2 day of coaching calls, a KPP System for Attorneys call, a replay of my free teleseminar, a day at the science center with Kaia's class and I'm saying Thank God it's Monday!
As you can imagine, after a week as jammed as that, I've got a lot of "to dos" piled up.
So, to avoid starting this week overwhelmed and ineffective, the first thing I'm going to do after writing to you is take 30-60 minutes and plan out my week.
It'll likely be the most important 30-60 minutes of the entire week.
I've got index cards here. And, I'm going to write out one project that must get completed on each index card. Then, I'm going to list all the associated "to dos" with that project on the index card.
When I get finished, I suspect I'll have about 15 or so index cards with projects that need to be completed during the week and I can then organize them in order of priority and start making my way through them.
I'll begin doing that by prioritizing them and scheduling time out on my calendar for each index card. I'll note the scheduled time on the index card so I won't be tempted to jump around and work inefficiently.
If you started each Monday with this kind of planning, think how effective you'd be.
