I was riding my bike down the beach yesterday and I noticed I was riding much farther than I normally do, much faster.
I thought I just had an excess of energy and was enjoying myself so much, I just kept riding.
Then, I started to notice the people coming in the other direction seemed to like they were pedaling, but they weren't moving that fast.
And, I started to notice that they looked as if they were exerting quite a bit of effort.
Suddenly, it dawned on me that the reason I was going so fast and so far is because I was being pushed by the tailwinds and that I was going to have to ride INTO those same tailwinds on the way back.
OH NO!
Yep, it was true. I turned my bike around sooner than I probably would have had I not had that realization, but still quite far away from my house and let me tell you, the ride back was mighty slow and much harder than the ride there.
As I huffed and puffed against the winds, I had plenty of time to think.
And, it occurred to me that there was a very important lesson here that I could share with you.
It's this.
Systems and processes for your business are like the wind.
If you have systems and processes that you use, your business will be propelled forward with seemingly very little effort by you. All the sudden you'll realize you are much farther, much faster than you could have ever imagined.
In contrast, if you don't have systems and processes, running your business is like riding against a hard tailwind. It's slow, it's painful, and it's exhausting.
Make a commitment today to harness the wind, build your systems and processes, and love your business again.
