The Website Makeover Email

I've been offering you so many great opportunities to invest in your business that I wanted to give you a freebie today.

One of the reasons I rarely give out free advice is because it's not often used.

In fact, I experienced this myself recently.  I was at a Dan Kennedy event and he had just gotten finished telling us why we should never give out free advice and I walked out on a break only to have one of his close colleagues give me an earful of it.

Now, truly, this woman is a highly respected and renowned mindset coach and I should have been hanging on every word she said, but because it was free (and, in that case, uninvited) I tuned it out and dismissed what she said.  Most likely to my detriment as I'm sure what she was telling me was spot on.

Website makeover

Name of site - teplg.com are the initials of the firm.  To make the site truly memorable, they'd be well-served to come up with an easy to remember and descriptive name, such as mylawyercallsmeback.com or familywealthmatters.com (both taken, but there are plenty more out there).

Overall, the site itself isn't bad for a brochure.  A little tweaking and this website can begin really working for Bill and Kristen.

I'm back from a whirlwind weekend of intense learning and eye-opening discoveries where I got to spend rare one-on-one time with my coach Dave Dee and our shared business mentor, the notoriously difficult to work with Dan Kennedy.

I met Dave at Dan's event in August and my whole business has radically changed AND significantly improved since then. I'd been studying Dan's techniques for about a year before meeting Dave and was implementing them with huge expense, but little success.

I started private coaching with Dave in early September and he quickly taught me exactly what I was missing to begin implementing Dan’s strategies for little expense, but huge success. A much better formula!  Photos are on the blog - if you have any uncertainty as to who's who, Dave is the guy who looks quite pleased to be standing next to a pretty girl; Dan the guy who'd rather be somewhere else.

In general, that's Dan's attitude about everything and he's used it to command the highest fees of any other copywriter in the United States, has prospects throwing money at him to get him to say yes he'll work with them, and sets all his own rules for engagement.

All that, even though he never went to college.

Using these strategies, we already have *19* appointments booked for my law firm in MARCH.  The most amazing part is that I'm only in the office 2 days/ week and I don't even have a desk there anymore. Avoid confusion at all costs

The number one first rule in selling is to avoid confusion at all costs.

A confused person doesn't buy.

The secret of the Client Engagement System is to lead your prospect down the road to yes by helping them clearly see why there is no better choice but to hire you to plan for the protection of their family.

Before I used a system, I had prospect after prospect leave my office because they were confused or uncertain about the value of planning and specifically why they should plan with my office.

That doesn't happen anymore.

I believe I have a moral obligation to clearly convey the value of planning to my prospects. And, if they leave my office confused, I've failed.

CES Subscriber Jeffrey Salisbury asked me a GREAT question on a recent de-briefing call about how to avoid confusion when a client has an estate that requires advanced planning.

Big News for FWPI Inner Circle members!

The kids and I made it through the ski trip and back safely. Well, for the most part.

Kaia bloodied her nose after a spectacular ski jump. This jump wasn't even attempted by most adults there and my little daredevil went for it.

I came around the corner to find she had flown out of her skis, dented her brand new helmet and had blood streaming down her face. Here are a couple of photos. 

What you will NOT see is me crawling across the snow after I made the mistake of trying snowboarding.

Ouch! On my first run, I landed so hard on my tailbone, I felt waves of pain shoot through my entire body. On my next run (of course, I tried it again), I crawled pretty much the whole way down the bunny slope.

Anyway, the best part about down time is how wonderfully everything percolates during it.

Do You Take Down Time?

As I told you yesterday, I'm taking some down time with my kids for a couple of days.

Truthfully, shutting down is a lot more difficult for me than keeping going.

Periodically, I have to force myself though because it's critical to my mental health and my business success.

What's that?

You say you can't take any time off because you are too busy.

I hope you aren't too busy to change your mindset because if you don't you're heading for a world of hurt.

A $51,346 Failure

I'm writing to you from Big Bear where I'm skiing with my kids.

I just got a new car and I've got some very valuable lessons to share with you from my car shopping experience.

I was deciding between the Lexus hybrid SUV and the BMW x5; both VERY nice cars.

After driving them both, I slightly preferred the drive of the Lexus, but I was seriously considering buying the BMW because of my experience at each dealership.

At the Lexus dealership, where I went for a test drive twice, the sales people never smiled and didn't seem to care about me at all.

In fact, they seemed as if they'd rather not be there.  And then, when it was time for us to talk price, the salesman goes back into the manager's office and sits there for a while.
