For the first time in my life as a biz owner, I am not at all worried about where the next customer will come from.
I spent the first few years in my practice constantly worried about that.
I spent hours posting on the Wealth Counsel listserve and reading posts of the more experienced attorneys hoping to glean some tidbit of information that would teach me to automate my marketing to have a steady flow of clients that would just keep coming.
I remember the exact day almost two years ago sitting in my office and literally PRAYING for a time when I wouldn't be scared and worried about my practice and whether I'd be able to pay my bills.
I went home that day and sobbed. I knew there had to be a better way and I was determined to find it.
I never imagined that I would have so much knowledge about estate planning and yet that my practice could fail because I knew nothing about sales, marketing and business.
Things are MUCH different now. My Client Services Director Susan just emailed me to let me know we have 45 new client appointments on the calendar for March and the best part - I haven't been in the office for almost a week.
Yes, that's right - 45!
The fact of the matter is that there IS a system and you can learn it. However, you are not going to learn it by monitoring free listserves or email groups.
Busy, successful attorneys and entrepeneurs with thriving businesses don't have the time or energy to post enough specific information on a listserve so that you could actually replicate their success.
Sure, they can give little tidbits of guidance here and there, but there's only one truly limited resource in this world and that's TIME. Nobody's been able to figure out how to squeeze more than 24 hours into a day.
And, you should be making the very most of your time by investing your learning in things that have been tried and tested where you can get examples and guidance and where you are learning from someone who is focused on ensuring you get the best information possible.
You just aren't going to get that without making some kind of an investment.
For example, I spend upwards of $2500/month to learn from the greatest minds in entrepeneurism, business, marketing, and sales. Why? Because I know I can take this information and turn it into much more than that.
And, while I could get free newsletters from each of the people I pay for information; I know I wouldn't get the inside scoop in a way that I could use it to make huge changes in my own business unless I was willing to invest my own resources to get it.
In fact, I've paid consultants over $200,000 AT LEAST over the course of the three years that I've been in business to learn what I needed to learn.
Some of them taught me what to do and from some I learned what NOT to do.
