It's summer and I'm burned out; all I want to do is spend time in the beautiful California sunshine with my kids.
I'm going to get to do that week after next when I take my family to camp for a week of meditation, yoga and veggie meals.
But, in the meantime, the show must go on, if ya know what I mean.
The overhead doesn't stop just because I want to!
So, what can you do when you're burned out to the max?
Here are some suggestions:
1. Reconnect with why you became a lawyer and how you are helping the people who come into see you.
2. Take the time to take care of yourself. Remember what you used to love before you worked all he time and do that.
3. Get some physical exercise. It doesn't have to be a lot, even a brisk walk can feel great if you haven't done anything in a while. My favorite? A body, mind and spirit nourishing yoga class at a real-deal yoga studio, not a gym.
4. Borrow my mantra -- this too shall pass. Accept that you are burned out and don't try to resist the feelings. It is what it is. Accept it and watch it disappear.
To your wealth, health and happiness,
Alexis
